In this week’s handle with care, the A$AP Rocky cheating rumor, and Elon Musk doing his best Kendall Roy impression.
Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach managed to get the following actors together (and more!) like Thanos taking Infinity stones for their “Barbie” film:
Margot Robbie as Barbie
Ryan Gosling as Ken
Will Ferrell as the CEO of a “toy company,” presumably Mattel
America Ferrera (“Real Women Have Curves”)
Simu Liu (“Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”)
Kate McKinnon (“Saturday Night Live”)
Alexandra Shipp (“Tick, Tick… Boom!”)
Ariana Greenblatt (“Avengers: Infinity War”)
Issa Rae (“Insecure”)
Michael Cera (“Juno”)
Emma Mackey (“Sex Education”)
Hari Nef (“You”)
Kingsley Ben-Adir (“Peaky Blinders”)
Rhea Perlman (“Matilda”)
Emerald Fennell (“The Crown”)
Probably more people added within the last hour
This movie and Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie, “Oppenheimer,” scare me because there’s no clear vision (to me) as of yet, just a giant cast and vibes. And the last time a film with a cast like this made me excited was “Don’t Look Up,” and we all know how that turned out!!
Not to praise Ms. Gerwig for not working with as many white actors as she usually does, or that she didn’t cast her usual film stalwarts (Saoirse Ronan and Timothée Chalamet), but I hope this movie is good because I’m hyping it up so much in my mind and this newsletter. And if it’s not, then I have to start lying.
⚓️ Rihanna News & Updates ⚓️
Rihanna is on the cover of Vogue’s May issue, with a full spread of photos inside by Annie Leibovitz.
In the cover story, she talked about her romance with A$AP Rocky and how no one is doing maternity style like her, saying, “I thought to myself, ‘there’s no way I’m going to go shopping in no maternity aisle.’”
The cover was released a couple days before a rumor A$AP Rocky cheated on Rihanna with shoe designer, Anima Muaddi, started circulating online. But boy, did that rumor spread! I was cycling for a half hour before coming back online to see “A$AP Rocky” and “CHEATED” trending on Twitter. In two now deleted tweets from writer and influencer Louis Pisano, they claimed the couple had split after Rihanna “caught him cheating” with Muaddi during Paris Fashion Week.
Not even TMZ could corroborate any of these claims! In fact, they were the first to refute the rumor. Pisano posted an apology to their Twitter:
And Muaddi also responded to the rumor:
Lest we forget the following Rihlations 2:14 on this Easter Sunday 🙏🏽
Rich people are Monsters!!!!
Elon Musk has added Twitter to his shopping bag. He made a pitch to buy the company after not committing to a previously accepted board position. In response, Twitter unveiled their one-year “poison pill” plan that essentially lets their shareholders buy more shares on the cheap, which would lessen the value of Musk’s shares.
Why is this kind of giving “Succession”? I’ve only finished the first season, but I feel like a “poison pill” is something they would do at Waystar Royco. I wonder if there is a Cousin Greg equivalent at Twitter.
Mark Wahlberg reportedly spent “millions and millions” ($4 million to be exact) making his new movie, “Father Stu.” He told Insider he was inspired by co-star Mel Gibson, who previously funded one of his own movies. I have many qualms about this! Millions of dollars are being spent on the annual Easter movie 1% of the population watches, supporting two actors that have done awful things, when that money could have gone to fix real problems.
The category is: men with little waists performing at Coachella. I saw Omar Apollo’s performance during Friday’s livestream (along with Harry Styles’ (which I loved)), and now I’m really jealous of everyone that has experienced hearing “Tamagotchi” live.
I also saw Wallows perform yesterday, and I’ve casually listened to them before, but I fear I may have to stan (because I now think very fondly of Braeden Lemasters). I now have plans to listen to their new album too, because I was impressed by their song “Hurts Me.”
This week I have been very obsessed with watching Instagram stories from influencers at Coachella. I would love to go one day because I’ve never been to a festival before, and I already know I would have fun coming up with outfits. Thank you for reading this week 💚
