In this week’s handle with care, Megan Thee Stallion’s final time addressing the T*ry L*n*z of it all, and Timothée Chalamet’s oopsie!!
As the Coachella Music and Arts Festival wraps up in Indio today, many are mourning what could’ve been for tonight’s final performance. Scheduled headliner Frank Ocean pulled out of the festival for the second weekend after a lackluster performance last Sunday. His team released the following statement on Wednesday:
“After suffering an injury to his leg on festival grounds in the week leading up to weekend 1. Frank Ocean was unable to perform the intended show but was still intent on performing, and in 72 hours, the show was reworked out of necessity. On doctor’s advice, [Ocean] is not able to perform weekend 2 due to two fractures and a sprain in his left leg.”
Variety reports that last minute changes in production led to it starting almost an hour late. An ice skating rink built specifically for Ocean’s set was scrapped a few hours before he performed. Losing the ice skating rink and dropping out of the second weekend will reportedly cost Goldenvoice — the promoter behind Coachella — millions of dollars. There’s also the extra $45,000 in fines for going over curfew.
The general consensus among festival goers were feelings of confusion and disappointment when all was said and done. But it was still a polarizing issue! Some were cutting him slack because he is still grieving the loss of his brother, others were disappointed in the quality of the performance, saying that he shouldn’t have taken the gig if he wasn’t ready.
Those that weren’t in attendance were disappointed to find out that it also wouldn’t be livestreamed on YouTube. People had to scour social media to find other ways to watch it. Instagram user Morgandoesntcare gained thousands of followers as she went live to share Ocean’s set.
In an interview with Pitchfork, the 18-year-old says she initially went live so her friends at home could watch, so she also put it out on Twitter… which led to Reddit finding out. After waiting at the barricade all day, she says it was still worth flying from North Carolina to see Ocean.
Rock band Blink-182 is set to replace Ocean as the headliner for this weekend, an interesting choice given there’s probably no overlap between their fans! Maybe Zendaya should’ve replaced Ocean — she was a special guest for Labrinth’s set last night. We could’ve done “Replay” on loop for an hour and a half!

Megan Thee Stallion penned a personal essay on moving forward from the Tory Lanez trial in Elle Magazine’s May 2023 cover story.
She talks about the effect the situation going public had on her mental health: “There would be times that I’d literally be backstage or in my hotel, crying my eyes out, and then I’d have to pull Megan Pete together and be Megan Thee Stallion.”
She discussed creating safer environments for female violence survivors, especially Black women, to speak out against their attackers. She also shared how she’s been healing: journaling, social media breaks, saying ‘no’ to protect her peace, spending time with loved ones, and more.
Connor’s Simone’s Wedding
Olympic gymnast Simone Biles shared photos yesterday after a courthouse wedding with NFL player Jonathan Owens. The couple met on the dating app Raya in March 2020, and got engaged on Valentine’s Day last year.
Biles wore a stunning white tiered wedding dress, with a halter neckline and open back. She explained on Instagram that there will be a larger destination wedding in a couple weeks, but they had to get married “legally” in the U.S. first. Congrats to them!
Timmy Updates
Timothée Chalamet was spotted filming something in New York with Martin Scorsese, likely another Apple TV+ commercial. There was a teeny accident on set though:
